If only we could get your words out to more people. Your average American just doesn't see or understand this.

I'm an expat living in the UK (for 20+ years) I use and love many US small businesses and I keep receiving emails similar to yours - although none so clear and erudite.

I'm always looking for a loophole... what if you set up distribution from a lower tariff country? It's what America has done for years, build everything in China/Taiwan/India/Mexico, send to the US to slap some stickers or label on it and call it American. Can you do the same in the UK/Canada/Heard Island :) ... Although I suspect you have thought of this and every other twist you can take to survive. I'm rooting for you!

Thank you Beth. I hope people share this post! I believe that businesses are doing a fundamental disservice to themselves by not being transparent and outspoken about how we are being impacted by the administration. If everyone thinks we “got it,” then there’s no reason to try to help.

And yes, I have thought of shifting our distrubution and there are loose plans coming into focus 😉

first, GREAT photo of the temple burn 3 years ago...one of my fav temples...and Wil Farrell is funny as fuck. Check him out on Stephen Colbert a couple days ago. Worth the laugh, so good...!

second, grrl, I have no idea how you do it. I've heard stories on npr about businesses faced with exactly what you are going through. I'm so sorry. I love the pic of fuckface as your target practice. fuck him and his whole faction of liars, thieves, murderers and con artists in the name of christ.. I've written songs. many songs.

I wish I had any good advice. Rachel Maddow was on Stephen Colbert last night and there was a glimmer of hope from her. might check that out. in the mean time though, it IS all going to burn down. 18 months is a long way away, a whole other ski season away JUST to hope there is a blue wave that may or may not have any constitutional power to stop the POS.

Having said that, if Canada could just take over WA, CA OR, then maybe there'd be a chance. They call it Baja Canada, which I think is fuckin' brilliant...

rock on, keep writing and putting your voice out there...

And come ski Timberline with us...it's fucking awesome RN....

love and fire,

Kathleen

I don’t know how I do it ether. At this exact moment it’s 8 am and I’m in bed with an eye mask around my forehead and coffee cup in hand. I’m exhausted and the thought of sitting behind my computer all day to work on something that might not exist in 6 months feels daunting.

So, so angry that, despite smart people telling us a) this was going to happen if we elected trump, and b) this would be VERY BAD, we still ended up riding the ride. We thought this out, we said it would be awful, and yet the people in power said "it'll be good for my net worth in the long run, so we're doing it."

So mad that this affects small businesses mega-disproportionately. Especially Coalition, but all of them. And access to the outdoors!! WALL-E as our future advances visibly closer every day, which scares me.

I’m angry and sad too. I try not to let it get the best of me, but there are times when I feel a deep hatred for the people who are so flippantly destroying lives. And it’s not just the tariffs, it’s all of it—the kidnappings, the corruption, stealing (stolen) land and retirement from the American people.

I keep wondering what it felt like in Germany or Chile—were people sitting around their kitchen table with friends, drinking wine, throwing their hands up as they tried to make sense of the days news, only to whisper the scary stuff?

I don’t know what the future holds for me or my businesses, but I know it will be really different. I’m working on getting comfortable with that.
