Sir, you have a lot of explaining to do.
I drag my tired ass across multiple continents and oceans, over the course of 30 hours and in economy mind you, only to have you follow me to my happy place with your bad behavior and unreasonable requests.
After running between flights and being wildly underserved and underfed on two long-haul flights, all a girl wanted to do was ride her bike through the Karura Forest, an unimaginable oasis in Nairobi that exists only because the late Wangari Maathai put her life on the line to save it. But no, we don’t get to enjoy nice things.
Instead, the New York Times, NPR, pretty much anyone with a pulse started to blow me up like I wanted my day to be ruined again by some old white dude who brags about grabbing women by the pussy.
I don’t wish death upon anyone. I’m not a monster. But seriously please don’t ask me to tone it down, to temper my rage, to move through this world with civility. I’m sorry, what do you think I’ve been doing? I can. not. be upset about the possibility of him not existing in human form on this planet anymore. He’s a rapist. And a bully. And besties with dictators. He has spent his life, lying, cheating, abusing, belittling, and conniving, also that he can have more power and money.
Your ask is salt in the wound, sir. And on top of everything else.
First, you want me to vote for that guy who can’t even make it through a debate and keeps sending money to support a genocide and now I’m supposed to publicly denounce what could have been a highly inappropriate go to hell high-five moment? As far as I’m concerned, it’s a shame he missed. What’s next on your list of big asks? I mean we haven’t even settled the score since Roe v Wade.
Who do you think you’re dealing with here?
“For one unbalanced man to veto the democratic preferences of tens of millions of voters would be an outrage.” ~ The Economist
I’m sorry sir, are you referring to a shooter or a former president who's an election denier because I’m super confused.
And look at you, skirting the real issue and making it all about you, as you do. I’ve tried to tell you it’s not about politics. I don’t really care if he’s a Republican. His party isn’t the issue here; it’s who he is as a person. He’s despicable, and not like super lib lefty, but in a breaking the basic social contracts we learned in kindergarten kinda way.
He said a woman next to him was wounded, describing the shooting as resembling a “third world” country. ~ Politico
Sir, you are confused. Shootings are uniquely American. The whole world knows it except for you. As someone sitting in said “third world” country at the exact moment of writing this with political protests abound, I can tell you there is nothing third world about what happened last week. Unless, of course, it’s the CIA interfering in the politics of a country to dispose of a dictator who “threatens our democracy.” Then OK maybe but that sounds like a conspiracy theory.
Sir, you missed the memo.
We’re done with the status quo, the do it because you’re “supposed to” shenanigans. No one cares that he holds the title “former president.” We judge people by their conduct, not their credentials. You must earn respect, and it will not come easily, not after all of this.
And stop being so gaslighty. Like we aren’t the ones who’ve been calling for more gun control. If we had our way that bullet likely never would have been fired. Because we have always denounced gun violence and we have taken that to the polls and look where that got us but we will continue to do both. You’re welcome.
And y’all can’t figure out why we choose bears over men.
